1. Overview
Your privacy matters to us — especially given what this Site is about. This policy explains what data PasswordGeeks collects, how our tools handle information you enter, and how third-party services (analytics, advertising, and the sites we link to) fit into the picture.
2. Our Password Tools: What Happens to What You Type
Password Strength Checker & Generator: These run entirely in your browser. The password you type into the strength checker, and any password our generator creates, is never sent to our servers, never stored, and never logged anywhere. All strength and crack-time calculations happen locally on your device.
Breach Lookup (password check): To check whether a password has appeared in a known breach, we use the HaveIBeenPwned API with a privacy-preserving technique called k-anonymity. Only the first 5 characters of your password's SHA-1 hash are sent — never the password itself, and never the full hash. This means neither we nor HaveIBeenPwned can reconstruct your actual password from this request.
Email Breach Checker: When you use this tool, we don't process your email address on our servers at all — we open HaveIBeenPwned's own site directly in a new tab, where the check happens on their platform under their privacy policy, not ours.

We do not require account creation, and we do not knowingly collect passwords, breach-check inputs, or any sensitive personal data beyond what's described above.
4. Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand overall site traffic and which pages are useful to visitors. This collects aggregated, anonymized usage data (pages viewed, general location at the country/city level, device type) — it does not identify you personally. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking using browser extensions such as Google's own Analytics Opt-out add-on.
5. Advertising & Cookies
PasswordGeeks may display advertisements through third-party networks such as Google AdSense. These networks may use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. We don't control how third-party ad networks use cookies — you can review Google's own policy at policies.google.com/technologies/ads, and manage ad personalization through Google Ads Settings.
6. Affiliate Links
Some pages, particularly our product reviews, contain affiliate links. If you click through and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. The affiliate partner (e.g., a password manager or VPN provider) may set their own cookies to track the referral — governed by that company's privacy policy, not ours.

Our tutorials and reviews link to external tools, official product sites, and resources like HaveIBeenPwned. Once you leave PasswordGeeks, that site's own privacy policy applies — we're not responsible for the privacy practices of external websites.
8. Children's Privacy
PasswordGeeks is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted means you accept the revised policy.
